Known for their curious puppy-like nature, these gentle fish often swim right up to divers to say hi. Males turn a brilliant cobalt blue, while females remain a warm reddish brown.
 
Living on the same patch of reef for decades, Blue Gropers play an important role in keeping kelp forests healthy by feeding on sea urchins. Once heavily targeted by spear fishers due to their trusting nature, they are now fully protected in Australia.
