Meet the Giant Cuttlefish (Sepia apama), an intelligent cephalopod found along the southern coast of Australia. Their skin is covered in tiny pigment sacs called chromatophores, allowing them to pulse colours, used for camouflage and communication. With highly developed brains, they can solve problems, remember patterns, and navigate their underwater world with impressive precision. Their distinctive W-shaped pupils are thought to help them detect depth and polarized light beneath the waves.

For this design, I wanted to capture the cuttlefish’s hypnotic pulsing patterns in embroidery. After searching through my fabric archives, I found the perfect printed fleecy from our old unicorn horns — somehow it feels exactly right for a giant cuttlefish. The printed fabric on its back has different a range of colour sections, so every cuttlefish sweater will be unique!

For every Cuttlefish sold in the pre-sale I'll be giving $20 to www.marineconservation.org.au for all their good work protecting our marine life!

This is our new Crop Hoodie style, short and sweet!
