Meet the Blue-Banded Bee (Amegilla cingulata), one of Australia’s most important native pollinators. These bright little bees use a special technique called “buzz pollination,” vibrating flowers to shake loose pollen that sticks to their fuzzy bodies. Unlike honeybees, Blue-Banded Bees are solitary and prefer cosy little burrows rather than living in hives. They’re fast flyers, important garden helpers, and absolutely iconic with their electric blue stripes.
 
Planting native flowers is one of the best ways to support them — so for this design I included some of their favourite blooms in the embroidery. 🌸🐝
