Ferret (Mustela furo) name is derived from the Latin for “little thief” - do you think it’s for their burglar mask? Their long bodies are flexible, making it easy for them to get into nooks and crannies. Domesticated in ancient times, ferrets were used to hunt rodents as well as be snuggly companions. Ferrets are crepuscular animals, meaning they are most active during dawn and dusk. They can sleep up to 18 hours a day, broken up into short naps. 💤
A collective of ferrets is called a business which is too cute to imagine their little briefcases.
