Hold me closer tiny dancer. ✨ Peacock Spiders aka Maratus are a species of jumping spiders living across Australia. They are notable for being utterly adorable, teenie tiny, colourful and amazing dancers. New species and colours are being discovered all the time by really clever people right here in Australia! I couldn’t decide on one so I just had to include a chorus of them in a big choreography number. Peacock spider males have these wildly coloured abdomens made of tiny scales. They lift their abdomens up like a peacock does its feathers, and begin their courtship dance. They vibrate their butts in dance moves so cutely named the rumble-rump, crunch rolls, and grind-rev. It’s kind of like my last Zumba class. Then they clap their arms and make complex signals while they shimmy side to side. Peacock spiders have amazing vision, their 8 eyes can see the full visual spectrum as well as in UV! So the female definitely sees like a judge on Dancing with the Stars whether this male makes the cut. If not, she will signal she’s not interested and he will stop the dance before he attracts a predator’s attention, or if the male continues his dance when the female is not into it, she might attack and eat him. Yikes bad review. These tiny spiders are only 5mm in size but they Can jump 40 times their height. So will you jump on this sweater? Each Peacock Spider Sweater has over 50,000 stitches making up that intricate design and has been hand snipped to get the 3D fluffy effect on the arms and abdomens. Wow. So much work but it's worth it for these amazing animals! I hope you love these very special sweaters!
